Frequently Asked Questions
We love to keep our clients in the know. While we try to minimise the technical jargon as much as we can, sometimes it is unavoidable. Therefore, we try to educate you on some of the important things a website needs. Below you will find some frequently asked questions.
Do I need a website?
In short, YES!
In this day and age the term ‘just Google it’ is used more than ‘what’s the time?’! If you want your business seen by new customers, getting online is one of the best ways to do so. A website shows your prospective customers you are professional.
A well-optimized website can help your business rank well for a variety of search terms. In doing so, it will attract a steady stream of new customers.
In creating a website, you have control over your branded content. This means you can showcase your reviews, products and services to your prospective clients exactly how you want to.
In short, a website is one of the best investments any business can make for its future.
What is a Content Management System?
A Content Management System (CMS) is a system that allows users to publish, edit and modify content on their website with no technical knowledge required. For example, Joomla and WordPress are both popular systems. Whilst, Zel Designs have experience in both Joomla and WordPress, we much prefer the WordPress platform.
Comparatively, we believe WordPress is an easier interface and is JAM PACKED with features. Therefore, we focus on WordPress Website creations. Unless you specifically want an alterative platform.

What is Web Hosting?
All websites on the internet need web hosting. Web hosting is where all of the files needed for your site live. For example, if your domain name is the address to your house, then the hosting is your actual home.
A company who hosts a website specialise in storing and serving your website. There are a HUGE number of Web Hosting companies based around the world. However, we recommend using a local company that includes customer service and technical support in their pricing.
What is Google Adwords?
Google Adwords is a Google product which assists users in marketing and helps them connect with potential clients. The platform allows users to create ads. The ads are displayed to potential clients who are searching for certain products and services, on a ‘pay per click’ agreement.
In short, users select their ad type and content, keywords or phrases (these are search phrases that your potential clients would use to find your service or product via a Google search), daily budgets, as well as dates and times the ad will be shown.
What is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is a free Google product that we recommend to our clients. It is a strong and useful addition to your site which provides statistics on visitors to your website. You will gain insight on how people are finding your site (directly or via search engines), how visitors use your site (what pages they visit and how long they stay) and what platforms visitors are using to access your site.
The information is provided in easy to understand graphs and charts.
Organic Rankings Vs Paid for Rankings
In relation to Search Engine Optimisation, an organic ranking is where you stand in a Google or other search engine search based on the relativity of your website content to the search keywords and how informative your website is for your prospective customers.
A ‘paid per click’ ranking or a paid ranking is paying for a place in a search engine result. These are the advertisements you find at the top and side of search engines (see Google example below). Google Adwords is an easy to use account where you select your daily budget and the keywords that you would like to rank higher on Google. Your advertisement is shown depending on your ranking and budget amount. Your account is charged each time someone clicks on your website link.
